Nick Emerson

Music and Audio

Hi, my name is Nick Emerson and I compose music for films.

Music has been extremely important in my life since I was a child. I started learning guitar at age 12 while shadowing my older brother, and started playing drums in a band with him at age 14. I played drums in several bands in Southeast Michigan through my early 20’s.

I moved to Los Angeles in 2006. I played drums and keyboard in couple bands while also started to learn electronic music production and audio engineering. While learning from some incredible musicians and engineers, I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience.

My professional career started while producing music and sfx for Alibi Music Library in 2014. In 2016, I scored my first short film. In 2017, I completed the UCLA Extension Film Scoring program. In 2020 I am a professional composer and sound designer interested in collaborating with you.

A loose definition of music is “the organization of sound over time”, therefore the sound of a film, being a linear medium with prefixed ebb and flows, must be music. I create sounds that are pitched and some that are not. It is all music to me.
